Who still remembers the paper lace doilies bakers used to give their pies a festive touch? They were called 'Dentelles'. Lieven and Jenny Vanhalst - the founders of the West Flemish family business Vanhalst - also used them in their patisserie during the 70s. The new collection of the Vanhalst brand Atelier Pierre is named after this 'decorative paper for banquets': the lamps have the same shape as a large stack of paper lace. Nostalgia in a modern guise, then. Two young designers collaborated on this: Paulien Callewaert and Kaat Verschueren. The fact that the French word 'elles' is in the name is no coincidence.
Ultimate mood creators
In times of small bubbles, cuddle contacts, and social distancing, we have all realized how important companionship is and how much we need it. It is from this intense desire for togetherness that Atelier Pierre's new lamp collection was developed. Paulien and Kaat designed the ultimate mood creators for dinners or other cozy gatherings in the form of stylish and affordable table lamps. The fixtures feel at home in both the living room and the bedroom, but can just as easily be taken outdoors. They are wireless and dimmable, already earning them an award for ease of use. Charging is done with a USB cable, dimming is done with a tap on the top of the lamp. There are four dimming levels, including a sleep mode.
Recycled and recyclable
The Dentelles lamps are available in three different sizes and shapes, all with a cream-colored body. The base is a magnetic ring made of light metal and comes in three colors: black, terra, and brushed gold. For the two largest versions, you can remove the ring for a different look. You unscrew it like the cap of a bottle. As we are used to from Atelier Pierre, this collection is also particularly sustainable. The modules are made of 100% recyclable polyethylene and are unbreakable. Different parts can be recycled and reused, provided the product is sorted correctly.
