This not only reaches a third generation of young fans but also brings a touch of nostalgia to the hearts and homes of parents and grandparents, courtesy of Atelier Pierre Junior.
Hatsjikidee! Fifty years after the first broadcast of 'De Fabeltjeskrant', Atelier Pierre Junior is paying a beautiful tribute to the beloved feathered TV friend with a new design collection. This collection consists of a colorful keychain (3.2 x 3.1 x 6cm / 3.95 euros), a piggy bank (10.2 x 9.9 x 19 cm / 22.5 euros), and a night light (11.8 x 11.7 x 22 cm / 45 euros). The USB rechargeable night light functions as a lamp with a dimming feature, but with a tap on Mr. Owl, it also goes into sleep mode. The night light then turns blue, then white after 2 minutes, and slowly turns off after 10 minutes.

The first broadcast of 'Fabeltjeskrant' aired on Dutch television in 1968 and reached Belgian young viewers not much later. And after additional broadcasts in the eighties, the tally quickly rose to 1650 episodes about the adventures in the multicultural Fabeltjesland. The themes are still incredibly relevant today. And Mr. Owl? He addressed the children from his usual spot high in the tree in every episode, reading from his daily newspaper. Did you know that the stories from the Fabeltjeskrant are based on the fables of the French author Jean de la Fontaine? Between 1668 and 1679, he published a collection of 243 fables in verse, including the stories of 'The Ant and the Grasshopper' and 'The Crow and the Fox'. And did you know that the new 3D Fabeltjeskrant movie, which premiered in Belgian cinemas last summer, was directed by West-Flandrian Freek Quartier?
